| Specimen Requirement |
| Recommended: 50 mL aliquot of a frozen well-mixed 24-hour urine. Collect urine in plastic bottle containing 25 mL 6N HCI, indicate 24-hour volume. Patients should be instructed to avoid direct contact with collection bottles or bags containing preservatives, especially hydrochloric acid. Collection instructions: Patients should be given two containers; one bottle containing 6N HCI should be used for pooling voids over 24 hour collection period. Additional bottle should be used for each void, and poured into pooling bottle immediately following void. Store and ship frozen. |
