Dr. Harrison joined HEMEX Labs as Director of the Flow Cytometry and Special Hematology section in 1997.  He subsequently became our Medical Director and a partner in 2001.  His extensive knowledge of genetics, hematology, flow cytometry and immunology has significantly enhanced the technical service capabilities at HEMEX.  Dr. Harrison also brings a distinguished record of experience in specialized referral laboratory services, having served as Corporate Medical Director of Genetic Services for Quest Diagnostics, and as Operations and Medical Director for the biochemical, molecular, cytogenetic, and HLA laboratories of Genetrix, Inc. and Genzyme Genetics in Scottsdale, AZ.

As a Clinical Pathologist with training in all areas of laboratory services, subspecialty training in genetic laboratory services, and a Ph.D. in biochemical genetics, Dr. Harrison is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists and a member of the American College of Medical Genetics and American College of Physician Executives. He holds medical licenses in six states (AZ, CA, IL, NJ, NV, and NY), and laboratory director's licenses in NJ and NY.   A former faculty member at the Univ. of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, Dr. Harrison has 80 publications and abstracts, and several OMIM/GDB citations for genetic discoveries achieved through high resolution two-dimensional electrophoresis and related proteomics research.  Dr. Harrison currently holds a clinical faculty appointment with the Univ. of Arizona Medical School and continues in teaching and clinical research activities.
